Overview
In Antenatal groups, we focus on equipping you with the knowledge and skills to enter motherhood with confidence!
The group sessions is an hour long each with maximum of 6 moms (dads are most welcome as well!) per group. We will meet each week for 6 weeks.
Session Topics
- Preparing for great sleep: How to set up a good sleep environment, normal sleep development, daytime sleep routine, safe sleep positions, how to set up a evening routine conducive of good sleep, sleep training strategies.
- Sensory profiles: Baby and parents’ sensory profiles and how it can compliment or clash.
- Attachment (Bonding): What is attachment theory and why is it important, spotting secure attachment vs attachment problems, how to foster secure attachment for moms and dads, practical tips on how to get dad involved from the start.
- Reduce crying: Reading your baby’s cues, sensory stimulation for newborns, calming strategies.
- Getting practical: Basics of breastfeeding, baby wearing, swaddle bath and correct swaddle technique.
- Basics of labor*: Stages of labor, the signs and symptoms of each stage, types of delivery, pain relief (*session information compiled with Doctor in obstetrics)
- Postnatal depression: What is it, what does it look like, risk factors, how to spot the danger signs, what can you do to prevent it, where to seek help
The Costs Include
- Coffee/Tea at each session.
